Halloween II: The Nightmare Isn't Over!
Halloween II: The Nightmare Isn't Over!
"You can't kill the boogeyman," explains John Carpenter in Halloween, and to prove it he brings Michael Myers back in this handsome but grisly sequel. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode but spends most of her time cowering in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasence runs around like a maniac as the panicky doctor desperate to hunt down Myers before he kills again. Carpenter writes and produces with partner Debra Hill, and together they replace the mystery and uncertainty of the original with an exponentially bigger body count and some strange tales about the Druids and pagan ceremonies, and the now-familiar family ties between Michael and Laurie. First-time director Rick Rosenthal (Bad Boys) paces the film at a brisk jog and directs it with a clean, crisp style, taking the murders out of the dark to display them in all their nasty detail. --Sean Axmaker
Customer Review: "Samhain, it means the lord of the dead." Halloween II (1981)
After the sucess of Halloween in 1978, the filmakers never expected that they would make a sequal. But, because of Halloween rip-offs being so popular, notably Friday the 13th, a sequal was inevitable.
Director Rick Rosenthal came on board to finish the night. Jamie Lee Curtis, from all her injuries in the first film, is sent to a hospital. Sure enough Michael Myers shows up at that hospital and starts picking off the nurses one by one. Loomis is back still warning everybody in the town how dangerous MM is. But, Loomis soon learns the motive behind MM actions...and the night continues.
This was an awesome sequal on certain levals. Jamie Lee Curtis is just as good as well as the late Donald Pleasance as they are in the first one. One of the faults of this movie, is being so close to the original. It's Halloween with a higher body count. The music is better and fills the room in this one. In many ways, if you enjoyed the first one, you'll enjoy this one.
The film works better a month or two after seeing the first one, because you won't be able to pick up how similar the films are. The chase scene is better, and this is the only Halloween film that they show the morning after.
As far as bonus features go, you get a pretty decent trailer, and some production notes. No video interviews, or commentary.
Overall, Halloween II's only flaw is being sooooo close to the original, that you can hardly stand it at parts. Show some originality people! I recommend it. It will be a fun watch, just you wait until MM and Laurie struggle with each other to survive the night...
Customer Review: Least annoying Halloween sequel
So I had seen this movie in the past on Tv and thought it was fine, and after seeing it for $5 at the supermarket I bought it. And mehhh. See, the problem is horror movie sequels are never sctually scary, so they better at least be fun to watch, and I never felt like the Halloween sequels were ever worth watching unless I was super bored at 2:00 in the morning in October. Lorie is in the hospital and does a bunch of stupid things, Michael still slowly walks to catch his victim, the victims are one dimensional morons with zero personality. And the death scenes arent even awesome. I'll probably never watch this movie again.
Although All Saints Day is the most favorite time of year to get any type of costume today more and more folks (especially youngesters) and enjoying costumes any time of year. One popular way to do just that is to throught costume parties. Costume parties are fun not only for the kids but for parents as well. College students also have been known to get caught up in costume fun.
