I'm certainly glad the new world had pumpkins. Carving a gourd must be a pain - and getting it to stand up near impossible. I suppose you could just stick a turnip in the ground to get it to stay, but there us nothing like a 50lb gigantic jack o'lantern burning in the crisp October air to fill me with creepy feelings.
