Halloween Party Invitations
Not only does Halloween mean trick-or-treaters constantly ringing the door bells of their next door neighbors from four in the afternoon until nine or ten at night, but it also means a large number of parties as children and adults alike take the opportunity to celebrate a holiday that is older than most people realize.
In order to get people to show up to these Halloween parties, it is imperative to give out party invitations. Sure, word-of-mouth works, but with a solid, real invitation, people are more likely to remember an engagement and show up. There are many ways to go about Halloween party invitations, and the first step is deciding if you want store-bought invitations or home-made ones.
Store-bought invitations are good for many reasons: not all of us have the time to make several pieces of paper with the same information over and over and over again. Some of us aren’t artistic, and some of us don’t even have the computer software or printers to handle such an endeavor. Hand-made invitations are a good idea for those who have the time to work on them, consider themselves to be crafty or artistic, or happen to have a good computer program that will allow the designing of an invitation that can be printed out with ease.
If you plan on buying store-bought invitations, decide what style you would like them to come in. There are card-shaped ones, with a picture on the front and the party information on the inside. There are single sided ones that look similar to post cards but need to be sent in an envelope. Using post cards is also an option, provided you find one with a good design on it.
Consider how many people you will be inviting, and buy the cards appropriately. Many invitation packs are bundled in groups of 10 or 20 or so, so make sure you pick up the right size so you have enough or won’t have too high a number left over — as there is really only one time a year when a Halloween invitation can be sent out. If you are deciding to buy cards not bought in a pack, remember to buy the right amount of envelopes to send them out in, as well as the correct amount of stamps.
With invitations made at home, there is a certain amount of freedom in what is being made. There are plenty of computer applications that can help set up a good invitation using a click-and-drag interface. All you need is a printer and a lot of ink and paper. The upside to making Halloween invitations using a computer is that you do not need to spend an excessive amount of time filling in card after card with the time, date, and location of the party. It also generally costs less than buying invitations pre-made because the ones you find in the store are generally printed on heavier paper with ink most people do not use in their own printers.
Not only is it possible to make simple folded card invitations, but for those who are inviting classmates or coworkers, or really anyone you see on a regular basis, flyer-styled invitations are another good route to take. Find some colored paper and design a flyer and hand them out. That way, you don’t need to worry about chasing everyone down to get their address and nothing will get lost in the mail. It will also save money on postage, which can be expensive when you find yourself inviting a large amount of people.
Whatever route you take, find the scariest, cutest, or best invitation and get some people to that party. Because regardless of whether you use store-bought or home-made invitations, it will all be a pointless endeavor if you never get them into the hands of the invited guests in the first place. Remember to get them to people as soon as possible: Halloween is a very busy time, full of many parties and get-togethers. The sooner you let people know you’re having a party, the sooner people can decide go to yours instead of someone else’s. Unless, that is, you plan on having your party on a night other than Halloween itself.
